Drawing to scale!
I've not been very good at updating the blog recently, (as facebook posts are quicker!). It's rather tricky to put all the fantastic arty things we've up to a pre school art explorers on here so I thought i'd share one of my recent favourites - life size self portraits. It was wonderful to work on such a large scale. We rolled out large sheets of paper and the children lay down and were traced around - after that the fun began with poster paint sticks, paints, crayons and plenty of collage. Despite the children being so young (2-4 years) they spent between 30 -45 minutes working on their portraits. This activity is great in the range of techniques that can be used, its large scale and opportunity for promoting self awareness and in group situation discussing similarities and differences between each other. The children were all very proud of their life size self portraits.
