Batik style Autumn art
I just love these batik style art works created by children in years 1-4 at the after school club. It was a great project as involved life drawing skills when sketching the pumpkin and then more imaginative work when adding colour to the background. It was a really exciting project for the children as they couldn't believe that we were going to draw the picture in chalks and oil pastels and then paint over the entire thing in black paint! They thought i'd gone mad! When we got to the final stage of washing the paint off (I did this bit to make sure the papers weren't drenched) there was lots of cheering as the finished art work was revealed. This is definitely a technique we'll be returning too.
