Hop hop hop!
The Easter bunny visited today and was very impressed with the gorgeous Easter wreaths and sun catchers the art explorers created. If you couldn't make today's class but fancy some Easter crafting, a few spots are available for Friday's class so hop along!

Messy messy papier mache!
This week was particularly messy - with many bottles of glue used in the process. Both the pre school classes and primary class made colourful papier mache bowls to fill with eggs at Easter. The process was well - messy, but the results were fantastic as you can see! Its great that each child's bowl is so different, some used layers of scrunched tissue paper whilst others used more delicate flat layers. Amazing that these bowls were made using just tissue paper, glue and wa

African animals
By popular demand the art explorers after school club focused on African animals. We looked at paintings by artist Jennifer Mercede and traditional African fabric designs and aimed to make our own creation using these inspirations. The art explorers worked hard and did a brilliant job of incorporating patterns into their artworks. They also used their imagination to create their own imaginary animal using collage paper.

Mad for Mondrian
Our school art explorers class absolutely loved the bright bold colours and shapes used by Mondrian. Inspired by his works and using mixed media - oil pastels, pens, poster paint sticks and black tape - fantastic art works were created. Here's a selection... #Mondrian #Mixedmedia

Woof, miaow, cheep!
After last weeks encounter with a bear we met some friendlier animals in our pet themed class!
We decorated birds, cats and dogs with a range of materials. Painting with feathers was a hit! We created the easiest pet to look after and take home - a pet rock! I think these rocks will be easier to care for then our cat Jake! #pets #feathers #rockpainting

Splash!
There's a major David Hockney exhibition on at Tate Britain so it seemed a good time to be inspired by this amazing artist. I can't wait to go to the exhibition - I just booked tickets and its worth knowing that children under 12 are free. The art explorers after school club created their own swimming pool oil pastel and water colour resist art works after looking at some of Hockney's famous works. Their work is fantastic - take a look at these... #DavidHockne #watercolourres

We're going on a bear hunt
IT'S A BEAR!!! As it's world book day this week I thought it would be great to have class around a best loved book We're Going on a Bear Hunt. The art explorers made fantastic bear hunt maps using paint and collage. Every explorer needs binoculars so we made some super stylish ones, then made bear prints in muddy playdough! Roarrrr! As the weather forecast is for so much rain - here's a link to some colouring pages with images from the book to print off at home!
