Australia Day
Its been so grey and cold here recently it seemed the perfect time to take art explorers to sunny Australia, my home for many years. I've always loved Aboriginal art, the colours, patterns and delicate dots are amazing and were our inspiration for our first activity. The art explorers used either cotton buds or their fingers to create their own dot painting on outlines of Australian animals. Many Aboriginal art works are created on the bark of the shedding paper bark tree. I couldn't find any of these easily in Kent so instead we painted on giant bamboo leaves - it was great for the art explorers to experience painting on a different surface. Finally the gorgeous coral reefs surrounding Australia were our inspiration and egg boxes were gorgeously transformed into a garden under the sea!
